Dear parents,
I hope you are having a wonderful summer! I know that I am having a blast working with
your child in art class! I am writing to inform you of a few announcements/requests for the
remaining period of the summer class.

- Most of the projects that we have done I have been collecting. Some of it has been proudly displayed in the hall, while others will be added to a portfolio that they can take home at the end of the session. My hope is that during the last week of school, I will host a showcase of the artwork that your child has done to celebrate all their hard work and creativity.
- I will be posting projects as we go along with summer school. My hope is that with this, I will be able to keep communication with parents about what we're doing in class!
- In the next few weeks, I plan on working on a bowl sculpture with the students. This is where your help comes into play. I am asking if you can have your child bring the following items to class by Monday
- a balloon
- tissue paper (easy to purchase at the dollar store, unless your child would like patterned tissue paper for their bowl. If that is the case, I would suggest trying to look at Party City, Bartz’s or down the gift wrapping aisle at any local department store like Walmart or Target)
- a pie tin (you can find one at the dollar store) - To tie in with our animal collages we’ve been working on for the past few days, if you have any empty boxes or cardboard tubes laying around, can you please have your child bring them to school? We will be making some sculptural elements with the boxes and making animal art.
Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to work with your young artist.
If you have any questions/suggestions or any important information that I should know,
please contact me at kthorson@waukesha.k12.wi.us
Sincerely,
Ms. Thorson
