Animal Collage Pt. 3 - 6/27

For Thursday's Art session, the summer artists began constructing their animal collage. The goal for Thursday's session was to cover the black poster board with their painted paper and zen-doodled paper.

I started by organizing the papers by color family and zen papers. Students were instructed to choose 5 painted papers and an optional zen doodle paper.

On the black poster boards, students could either use the dot on their poster as a starting point to make a starburst, or they can choose their own design. Most students were able to complete their collage, but would be given time on Friday to complete them and then work on the animal facial features.

Stained Glass Artwork - 6/26/19

On Wednesday, my summer artists made artwork that imitated stain glass windows. We began by folding our paper in half and drawing how the shape of the window would be and then opened it up afterwards to reveal the window. Once that was completed, students chose to draw a symbol that would go in the center, and added their lines onto it for the different glass panels.

Afterwards, students used a bingo dauber filled with India ink to outline their lines. It was a little messy at first to control the dauber carefully. Once the ink was dry, then students used watercolor paint to paint each glass panel. The students had a lot of fun with this one, and several wanted to create additional stained glass pictures.
